Reasons to like Boris Johnson
Having had one reason alone to like Boris (he's entertaining if nothing else), I thought of another earlier on today.
He's the only Tory MP i've yet seen admit that he made a mistake in voting for the Iraq war.
Could it be that this blubbering buffoon, who struggles to get his words out around the silver spoon stuck in his mouth, could be the only Tory with any political backbone at all? Other examples appreciated if you have them.

No, it's not that he's the only Tory with a political backbone — plenty of the Tories have plenty of conviction in their beliefs, we liberal types just happen to abhor most of those beliefs. David Davies, for example, is very sensible on ID cards and the database state (more so than many liberals).
No, I think it's more that Boris is a blatant populist and realises that saying he regrets voting for the Iraq war is likely to gain him more swing voters.
I do hope this optimism isn't an indication of the level of political analysis we should come to expect from this blog?
